Coffee Cup Cozzies

Bonjour Everyone! It's Kennedy with our first DIY, Coffee Cup Cozies! I was working in my churches coffee shop last Saturday, when this lady gave me this genius idea! I don't really drink coffee, and to be honest I kind of hate it! But, man do I love myself some Chai tea and hot chocolate! This does require some sewing, but its super easy! So, lets begin!

 Supplies Needed:

  • Fun Fabric, 1 fabric square will make multiples
  • Felt, not much needed
  • Sewing Scissors
  • Buttons, 1 or 2
  • A Needle
  • Coordinating Thread, will be visible
  • A Coffee Sleeve, can be found at most coffee shops

1st you are going to be needing to trace your coffee sleeve onto a piece of paper making it slightly larger.

Now, cut it out and pin it to your fabrics (you can do them separate or together).

Cut out both of your fabrics.

Pin them together with right sides together.

Sew them together with about a 1/2 inch seem allowance. Leaving the right side completely not sewed.

Now, turn it inside out, and iron it.

Now, you are going to sew around the entire thing leaving about a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Don't worry about tucking in the unsewed area just sew right over it leaving the edges out. Sew a button or 2 about 1 inch away from the edge.

Now, for the tricky part. Cross the sewed edge with the button on it over the unsewed edge about an inch. Using a needle and thread sew them together right on top of the already sewed area (make sense?) Go back and forth until secure.

And voila you are finished! Just keep it in your purse or car till the next time you get a coffee! Bonus, its recyclable unlike those cardboard ones!
